Position Available:  Land Protection Coordinator
 
 
Small
nonprofit land conservancy seeks Land Protection Coordinator to initiate
farmland protection program in Washtenaw County.  This is a part-time position, 20 hours/week
(average); weekly hours will vary from 10-25 hours depending on season.  Some evenings and weekends may be required.  
 
Job
responsibilities:
1)
Assist Executive Director in implementing new county-wide farmland protection
program under the terms of the new county-wide Natural Areas Protection Program
millage;  2) Provide outreach,
information and ongoing communications to qualified farm land owners;  3)Develop grant proposals to state and federal
funding sources to supplement local funds;  4)Maintain open communications with
conservation partners at the local, state and federal level;  5)Provide support to Washtenaw County
Agricultural Lands Protection Advisory Committee;  6) Ensure monitoring of properties in
accordance with County and organizational guidelines; and 7) Other tasks as
assigned by the Executive Director.
 
Job
skills required: 
1)
Strong written, oral and interpersonal communications skills; 2) Ability to work
well in small team/office environment; 3) Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
4) Knowledge of GIS and GPS helpful; and 5) Experience with grant writing
helpful
 
Other
Requirements:
 1)Bachelors degree in natural resource
management, agriculture,  planning or
related field, plus two years equivalent work experience; 2) Ability to manage
multiple priorities; 3) Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable
transportation; and 4) Flexibility, enthusiasm for work and mission and a sense
of humor. 
 
This
position reports to the Executive Director.  Compensation is based on an hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
