More details on the meeting, including an agenda, will follow soon. In March, the event Phragmites Invasions in Michigan: A Symposium to Build Capacity for Management was held to share information and facilitate dialogue on phragmites management and control and innovative research. The symposium drew more than 120 attendees, including representatives from federal, state and local government, non-government organizations, research institutions, private firms and concerned citizens. A principal outcome from the symposium was to inform development of a strategic framework to advance effective, sustainable management of invasive phragmites throughout the state of Michigan. The strategic framework will recommend key actions to advance phragmites management and control on a coordinated basis and will also identify roles, responsibilities and opportunities for implementation. ***How to Sign Up*** Interested parties should RSVP for the meeting to Katelyn Wagner, Michigan Dept. of Natural Resources, wagnerk7 at michigan.gov. Who Should Attend All interested stakeholders, including federal, state/provincial and tribal agencies, local governments, academics, non-governmental and private entities, planning commissions, conservation districts, watershed organizations, lake associations, industry, public and private landowners, among others.
