POSITION DESCRIPTION


Programs Assistant Part Time Position


About the 

Organization

The Clinton River Watershed Council provides a forum for individuals,
businesses, local governments, and other organizations to protect, enhance,
and celebrate the Clinton River, its watershed, and Lake St. Clair.
Established in 1972 as a council of local governments, the Clinton River
Watershed Council reorganized in 1994 as an IRS 501(c)3 nonprofit
organization. Key programs include watershed management, education, and
stewardship.

 


Position

This position reports directly to the Education and Stewardship Director,
who along with the Executive Director is responsible for the performance
review of this position.  This person works cooperatively with other
professional and administrative staff.  It is a part-time (average 20
hr/week) non-exempt position. The hours are variable and season driven. The
position requires occasional evening and weekend commitments.

 


Responsibilities

Support CRWC's mission through sound support of the organization's Adopt-A
-Stream, Stream Leaders and storm water education outreach programs,
production of high quality work in a timely fashion, and courteous,
service-oriented behavior towards customers and coworkers. Under the
direction of the Education and Stewardship Director, the Program Assistant
will: 

 

1.   Fulfill the organization's mission through sound support of the
Adopt-A-     

Stream and Stream Leaders Programs in cooperation with and approved by the
Education and Stewardship Director including the following tasks:

a.     Water Quality Monitoring  training sessions and coordination of
volunteer monitoring activities;

b.    Tracking participation, collecting feedback for evaluation purposes,
and
preparing reports to the Education and Stewardship Director outlining
program results.

2.  Assist Education and Stewardship Director with outreach and educational
events. 

3.  Provide field support CRWC Stewardship Initiatives. 

 


Qualifications

Minimum of two year post-secondary education in (Biology, Ecology, Geology,
Environmental Science, Geography, Science Education or related field).
Bachelor's degree preferred. Demonstrated work experience in a scientific or
educational setting.   Strong public speaking skills and enthusiasm for
working with a wide variety of audiences. Good relationship skills,
including tact, sense of humor, and assertiveness. Demonstrated ability to
multi-task and work both independently and as a team player. Working
familiarity with, Internet, word processing, and spreadsheet (i.e. Excel,
and PowerPoint experience a must). Some local travel therefore reliable
transportation and a valid driver's license are required. Experience in
water quality monitoring/analysis and volunteer management is a plus.  


Compensation

$12-14.00 dollars/hour rate of pay range.
