The Michigan Stormwater Floodplain Association (MSFA) is pleased to announce
that its commemorative 25th Annual Conference will be held February 29 to
March 2, 2012.  In order to provide a better service to the communities,
consultants, and individuals who attend the conference, they are invited to
submit ideas and requests for presentations.  We are especially interested
in providing presentations on topics that communities will find helpful as
they deal with floodplain and stormwater management issues.  Some general
ideas for topics are listed, but feel free to submit any ideas related to
floodplain or stormwater issues.  Please submit your suggestions to Chris
Rybak, Conference Committee Chair at msfa.conference at gmail.com by August 5,
2011.



   - The National Flood Insurance Program
   - Floodplain Mapping
   - Floodplain Development Standards
   - Stormwater Management
   - Floodplain or Stormwater Permitting
   - Dams and Levees Issues
   - CRS and CAV Process
   - Planning Initiatives – Pre-Disaster Work, All Hazards, Watershed, etc.
   - Hazard mitigation planning and public awareness
   - Case Studies



We are also announcing a call for abstracts for those wishing to present at
the 2012 conference.  It is the intent of MSFA to review the abstracts and
find the best fit with the community topic suggestions.  Proposed topics
should be regarding Stormwater and Floodplain Management.  Anyone wishing to
present must submit the following information by August 5, 2011:



·         A brief abstract describing the material to be presented.

·         The name(s) of author(s) and presentation title.

·         The lead presenter, his/her title, place of employment, telephone
number, and e-mail address.

·         The approximate time of the presentation (30 to 45 minutes with a
15 minute question and answer is typical).
