Annual Canoe Tour to Explore Clough and Tallas Islands

 

DULUTH, Minn. -- The St. Louis River Alliance (SLRA) will be holding hold
its 2011 Canoe Tour and Picnic on Saturday, August 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

This year's event will begin and end at the Munger Boating Landing located
at the end of Clyde Ave. in Smithville. The tour will include the newly
restored Tallas Island Bay and a paddle over to Clough Island for the
picnic.

 

"This is a great opportunity for both experienced and non-experienced
canoeists and kayakers to explore the wonderful outdoors right in our own
backyard," said Julene Boe, SLRA executive director. 

 

The cost to participate in this year's event is only $5 for SLRA members (or
$20 for the whole family.) Non members can sign up for only $10 per person
($30 for a family). Children under 12 are free, but must be accompanied by
an adult. Canoes, paddles and life jackets will be provided to those without
their own. Kayakers are welcome. More details about the event and a
