Friends of Stone Laboratory Award 10 High School Students Scholarships for Summer Classes June 13, 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ohio State University's Stone Laboratory and Friends of Stone Lab judged science projects at the annual Ohio Academy of Science State Science Day on May 7 and awarded 10 young scientists scholarships to attend a one-week introductory class at Stone Lab this summer. A group of volunteer judges rated projects based on their quality of science and the students' presentation abilities. This year's scholarship awards were presented to: . Humza S. Bashir, grade 10 at Springfield High . Zoe P. Buccella, grade 10, Home schooled . Christina Z. Dong, grade 11 at Stephen T. Badin High . Raymond M. Dong, grade 12 at Stephen T. Badin High . Andrew B. Favorito, grade 12 at Paulding High . Stephen W. Hall, grade 10 at St. Vincent-St. Mary High . Don T. Hutchinson, grade 12 at Big Walnut High . Anna M. Klompen, grade 10 at Thomas Worthington High . Halle A. Miller, grade 10 at Columbia High . Leah S. Minor, grade 10 at Upper Arlington High Since 1996, FOSL has been awarding high school students scholarships that allow them to experience hands-on science at Stone Lab. FOSL is non-profit group dedicated to donating time and money to assist with the lab's educational, outreach, and research programs through volunteerism and financial donation. Since its creation in 1981, FOSL has raised more than $1.3 million in endowments, purchased equipment, supported scholarships for more than 1,000 students, and funded research assistants and visiting professors.
