Although the residents of Detroit and Windsor live in different countries, they are separated by a river that is little more than half a mile wide. In fact, they live so close to each other that they often breathe the same air. The International Joint Commission <http://www.ijc.org/> (IJC) is hosting two public meetings on transboundary air quality tonight and tomorrow (June 13-14) in the following locations: Windsor, Ontario Monday, June 13, 2011 7:00 PM CAW Hall (Local 444) 1855 Turner Rd. N8W 3K2 Detroit, Michigan Tuesday, June 14, 2011 7:00 PM EDC Auditorium (Room 1507) Main Engineering, Wayne State Univ. 5050 Anthony Wayne Dr., 48202 The IJC invites the public to provide comment on progress by our two countries to reduce the impact of transboundary air pollution under the 1991 Canada-United States Air Quality Agreement <http://www.epa.gov/airmarkets/progsregs/usca/index.htm> , work that remains to be done to protect human health and the environment from transboundary air pollution, and the issues that should have the highest priority. As part of its responsibilities under the Agreement, the IJC will synthesize the views expressed by the public in a public report to both federal governments. The Progress Report 2010 <http://www.epa.gov/airmarkets/progsregs/usca/docs/2010report.pdf> describes progress to meet the objectives of the Agreement's annexes on acid rain and ozone, and addresses public comments on the 2008 Progress Report. A summary of the report is attached. More information is available online at www.ijc.org <http://www.ijc.org/> . -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
