The National Ocean Council is now developing strategic > action plans to achieve nine national priority objectives that address > some > of the most pressing challenges facing these areas. > > These nine national priority objectives include: > > * Ecosystem-based management > * Coastal and marine spatial planning > * Inform decisions and improve understanding > * Better coordinate and support Federal, State, tribal, and local and > regional management > * Resiliency and adaptation to climate change and ocean acidification > * Regional ecosystem protection and restoration > * Water quality and sustainable practices on land > * Changing conditions in the Arctic > * Ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes observations, mapping, and > infrastructure > > The National Ocean Council will host regional public listening sessions > about these efforts and thereby provide opportunities for public input and > comments as it develops the strategic action plans. The strategic action > plan outlines are scheduled to be published on-line on or about June 1st, > 2011.
