The Great Lakes Protection Fund<http://www.glpf.org> is pleased to welcome several new members to its Board of Directors. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn appointed Kathleen Brown<http://www.glpf.org/about-the-fund/members-and-board-1/kathleen-brown> on September 16, 2011. Ms. Brown is Chairman of Investment Banking for the Midwest Region of Goldman, Sachs & Co. Prior to joining Goldman's private wealth management group in 2001, Ms. Brown was California's treasurer and served as co-chair of the presidential commission on capital budgeting. She holds degrees from Stanford University and Fordham University School of Law. Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton appointed Frederick Dudderar Jr.<http://www.glpf.org/about-the-fund/members-and-board-1/frederick-dudderar-jr> on September 23, 2011. Mr. Dudderar is an attorney at law with the law firm of Hanft Fride, P.A. in Duluth, MN. He has served as law clerk to the Indiana Court of Appeals and to the Minnesota Supreme Court and is a member and past chairman of the Board of Legal Aid of Northeastern Minnesota. Mr. Dudderar received his B.A. from Indiana University and his J.D. from Valparaiso University. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker appointed Kenneth Johnson<http://www.glpf.org/about-the-fund/members-and-board-1/ken-johnson> on October 12, 2011. Mr. Johnson is Water Division Administrator for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Mr. Johnson began with the DNR in 1977 and most recently held the positions of Lower Rock River Basin Supervisor and South Central Region Water Leader. Mr. Johnson holds a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. The Fund's Board of Directors is comprised of two governor-appointed representatives from each member state. The Board of Directors meets quarterly and oversees the investment of the endowment and governs the Fund's operations. The founding Governors agreed that they and future Governors "...shall select individuals with a regional perspective and shall seek to ensure that the Board of Directors is fully reflective of the diverse community of State and regional interests (such as academics, environmentalists, business, labor, local communities, and others) that use and benefit from the Great Lakes." The Great Lakes Protection Fund is a private, nonprofit corporation formed in 1989 by the Governors of the Great Lakes States. It is a permanent environmental endowment that supports projects that lead to tangible improvements in the health of the Great Lakes ecosystem; promote the interdependence of healthy ecological and economic systems; and are innovative, creative, and venturesome. To date, the Fund had made 237 grants and program related investments representing more than $59.8 million in regional projects to improve the health of the Great Lakes ecosystem.
