Duluth's 3rd Annual Lakewalk Festival - Family Fun For Everyone

Two days of kid-friendly activities and extreme family fun is part of the
3rd annual Lakewalk Festival, which will take place on Duluth's most scenic
walking and biking path on Lake Superior on Friday, September 9 and
Saturday, September 10.

The Lakewalk Festival begins at 7 p.m. in Leif Erickson Park with a 9/11
Tribute followed by Movies in the Park featuring "Toy Story 3." A variety
of exciting family fun activities continue on Saturday from 12 noon to 4
p.m. from the Lakeside neighborhood to 47th Avenue East all the way to
historic Canal Park. Festival goers of all ages will be challenged at a
variety of stations to find clues to win complimentary prizes.

Lakeside: Catch a free ride on the North Shore Scenic Railroad at 47th
Avenue East to the Lakeside neighborhood to find the Duluth's Top Dog
contest, dance show, puppy pool party, bounce house and face painting

Lake Place Park: Meet the national champion UMD hockey players at Lake
Place Park and participate in free zumba dance classes, YMCA health and
wellness dice game and disc golf

Veteran's Memorial: At the Veteran's Memorial, complete a thank you note
to a soldier and receive a small American flag

Fitger's Courtyard: Enjoy free Bridgeman's ice cream, Fitger's history, a
rubber duck pond and petting zoo

Historic Canal Park: The fun continues at each Canal Park hotel with rock
and face painting, bounce house, balloons, hay wagon rides, tasty s'mores
and a bean bag toss. On the grounds of the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor
Center learn boat safety tips, how to prevent aquatic invasive species and
how to cast a fishing rod. Kids can also climb on Duluth fire trucks, view
the Command Center station equipment, hear historic tales of early Duluth,
sign the welcome banner for the King of Norway and enjoy a free ice cream at
Grandma's Box Car.

The Lakewalk Festival is coordinated by the Greater Downtown Duluth Council,
a non-profit corporation dedicated to the development and promotion of a
strong, healthy and exciting downtown Duluth. There is something for
everyone at the 3rd annual Lakewalk Festival. Make the festival your
destination for family fun and entertainment on September 9 and 10. For
