Detroit will be the center of attention October 12 - 14, when the Great
Lakes Biennial Meeting

protect and restore the Great Lakes. Just as important, "H2O NOW"
applies to everyone -- to the public, to industry, to environmental

negotiations regarding an updated Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement

time be held in conjunction with annual meetings of the Great Lakes
Commission and the Healing Our Waters Coalition, among other

the afternoon of October 12, 2011.

historic moment in the history of U.S. and Canadian efforts to restore
the biological, physical and chemical integrity of the waters of the
Great Lakes Basin Ecosystem. There is no cost to attend sessions.
Registration entitles you to attend the historic joint session on on
October 12 and then ELEVEN different workshops and THREE plenary
sessions with top officials on October 13th and 14th. For your
convenience, you may choose to pay a $50 meal fee which covers the
networking box lunch prior to the joint meeting (Wednesday, October 12),
luncheon with the keynote speaker (Thursday, October 13) as well as
breakfast on both Thursday and Friday (October 13-14). 

 Biennial Meeting Highlights

*	Joint Session with Healing Our Waters Coalition, Great Lakes
Commission and other partners.  EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson and
Environment Minister Peter Kent are expected to keynote this historic
event.

*	Great Lakes Town Hall -- Your chance to speak up for the Great
Lakes.  Speak directly to top government officials about fracking, wind
farms, the transport and storage of nuclear waste and other issues.  

*	Workshops on a wide range of topics (see the meeting schedule

will be released prior to the meeting, so come prepared to provide your
views regarding:

	*	Harmful and Nuisance Algae
	*	Aquatic Invasive Species Rapid Response
	*	Benefits and Risks of Fish Consumption

*	Public Meeting on Issues Concerning Lake Erie.  The lake is
suffering from the worst toxic algae bloom in years
