The Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) is assisting FEMA with outreach associated the Great Lakes Flood Hazard Mapping Project. As part of that project, we are seeking photographs of historic coastal flood events on the Great Lakes. These photos should be accompanied by the following information: 1) Location of the photo (See Notes below) 2) Date / (and if possible) time of the photo 3) Who took the photo 4) What is in the photo (A caption or additional information) 5) Is there a copyright holder? / Is it public domain? Notes- Levels of accuracy from highest to lowest: a) The latitude and longitude of the photo. A few digital cameras and many cell phone cameras put this data in the photo with the date and time. b) Street address or intersection. c) Place name or a zip code. For galleries of multiple photos, it would be appreciated if a spreadsheet would be provided with each photo name as a row with the requested information above in each column. Photos and spreadsheet can be .zip'd together and attached to an email. We can receive up to 25MB per email. FTP options can be arranged for larger datasets or if your email client's size restrictions for sending are a limiting factor. Burning the photographs onto a CD or DVD and sending via snail mail is also an option. Questions, comments and the photos with information (or inquiries for FTP) should be sent to me at jhochschild at floods.org Thanks in advance!
