Dear Environmental Professionals and MAEOE Members,

FYI .... The early bird rate ends Thursday Sept. 22 and the hotel discount

Join the Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE)
for its 23rd Annual Conference, Striving for Sustainability, October 7-9,
2011, at the Delta College Planetarium <http://www.delta.edu/planet.aspx>
in Bay City, MI. Each year, teachers, naturalists, and outdoor recreation
leaders come together from around the Midwest to share knowledge and
techniques in educating the next generation of conservation and
sustainability stewards. MAEOE <http://www.michiganenvironmentaled.org/> is
uniquely positioned to help you play a significant role in environmental
education and improve your teaching skills with new ideas and resources.

This year's conference will explore the concept of sustainability and the
many ways we can address this concept in our teaching practices. The
conference strands include: Earth Science & Technology, Michigan
Agriculture, Great Lakes & Freshwater Studies, and Achieving Learning
Standards through EE. On Saturday, 40 different sessions will explore these
topics, with education partners and teachers from around the state sharing
their expertise and curriculum. On Friday, there are 13 different hands-on
workshops that feature the very best environmental education resources -
from Alternative Energy, Forestry, Project WILD, Project WET, Climate Change
& Polar Bears, GLOBE and more! Sunday's line-up includes field trips that
celebrate the Great Lakes Bay's natural and cultural resources.

The conference features <http://www.baysailbaycity.org/> BaySail - a local
organization who promotes stewardship of the Saginaw Bay and the Great Lakes
through shipboard experiences aboard two schooners, the Appledore IV and
Appledore V. There are two opportunities, on Friday and Sunday, to
experience a Tall Ship! The

these special creatures across the United States. In addition, Friday
evening features a special planetarium show, Black Holes the Other Side of
Infinity, to deepen our understanding and wonder of the universe.
