The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife is currently recruiting for a Fish and Wildlife Scientist III position to serve as a Fisheries Biologist for the southeast region of the state.  This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in a small state where you will be involved in all facets of fisheries research and management.  This job involves working with the public, designing research projects, doing hands-on fieldwork, analyzing data, and making management decisions.  This is a full-time permanent position, and is located in the Springfield District Fish and Wildlife Office.

Responsibilities: Planning, coordinating and implementing fisheries management and research programs. Duties include evaluating fish populations and habitat, setting regulations, directing fish stocking, conducting public outreach and participating in regulatory review.  Serves as a leader on statewide teams and projects. Supervises temporary and permanent employees.

Qualifications:
Education:  Master's degree or higher in a natural resources field.
Experience:  2 years experience in a fisheries or wildlife field.....OR

Education:  Bachelor's or higher in a natural resources field or biology.
Experience:  4 years experience in a fisheries or wildlife field.....OR

2 years as a Vermont Fish & Wildlife Scientist II with the State of Vermont.

Starting Salary: $20.78 per hour (Pay Grade 24), plus benefits.
