In the coming months, NOAA’s 2011 regional land cover

be rolled out to help coastal professionals understand the effects of
past land use decisions, document trends, and consider future land use
planning needs. Regional 2011 data sets are now available for Minnesota,

Fresh Lidar for 12 States and Two

Twenty-one new lidar data sets are now on the Digital Coast, including
post-Hurricane Sandy data for Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and
New York.

Self-Employed Fill in the ENOW

The Economics: National Ocean Watch (ENOW) website sports a new data set on
self-employed workers, providing a more wide-ranging perspective on ocean

Connecticut City Enhances Resilience to Coastal

After living through a tropical storm, nor’easter, and tornado in the space
of just two years, officials in the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut,
focused on preparing more effectively for disasters. As a result, the city
had a head start on the path to resilience when Hurricane Sandy came to
town.

In fiscal year 2012, 98 percent of training participants said they would
recommend these courses to others. The Center conducted 46 courses and
13-Web-based trainings for people in 37 states and territories.
 Digital Coast Brings Big Benefits to

A Center study compared the full cost of the Digital Coast to time savings
associated with its use, finding that rewards to the nation’s taxpayers are
3.5 times greater than their investment.
