New Federal Great Lakes Advisory Board Taps
 Two Alliance Board Members

The Alliance for the Great Lakes congratulates two members of its board of directors on their appointments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s newly created Great Lakes Advisory Board.

Named to two-year terms are Jim Ridgway, chairman of the Alliance board of directors and vice president at Environmental Consulting and Technology in Detroit, Mich.; and Joy Mulinex, director of government relations for the Western Reserve Land Conservancy in Moreland Hills, Ohio.

“I commend Jim and Joy on their new roles as federal advisors for the protection and restoration of this vast resource,” said Joel Brammeier, president and CEO of the Alliance. “Both are longstanding advocates of a healthy Great Lakes and will bring unique depth and insight to the advisory board.”

The 18-member Great Lakes Advisory Board is the first of its kind and is convened to support implementation of the federal Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. The board is tasked with providing advice and recommendations to the EPA Administrator, who chairs the federal Interagency Task Force.

"I’m pleased to announce the membership of the first-ever Great Lakes Advisory Board,” EPA Acting Administrator and Acting Interagency Task Force Chairman Bob Perciasepe said in a prepared statement. "The scientists, business leaders, public servants and representatives of non-profit organizations who make up the advisory board will help us build upon the success we've already seen and move forward into the next phases of Great Lakes restoration and protection.”
