Dear Educator:


We invite you to bring your students to attend the Lake Superior Youth Symposium May 16-19, 2013!! The symposium promises to be an outstanding learning opportunity for Grades 8-12 students and their teachers from throughout the Lake Superior and Great Lakes watersheds. The symposium will .take place at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI. Students and teachers will stay in Michigan Tech residence halls. 

The cost is $140 per participant, and includes three nights lodging and all meals from Thursday dinner through Sunday breakfast. Sunday lunch is optional.

Registration deadline is April 15, 2013 

There are:

  a.. 25 different field trips to choose from 
  b.. 25 different presentations by scientists, historians, artists, writers, college students, national park and U.S. Forest Service specialists, conservation organizations, and others on a wide range of topics related to Great Lakes & water quality, fish & wildlife, conservation, sustainability, poetry, art, photography, and more!!
The Symposium website has information to help you learn more and plan your trip!


How to Register:

i) The lead teacher/chaperone for each Group should complete a Group Registration Form online and mail payment by due date to the address on the form. 

ii) Each participant in the group (including teachers/chaperones) must complete the Field Trip & Presentation Selection Form online by April 15. Every effort will be made to schedule them into as many of their requests as possible.
