Thursday, 4 April, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. EDT CCIW, Burlington Ontario Remote access through the web may be available. Please RSVP by Friday, 29 March We ask that those planning to attend RSVP to Jeff Reutter (reutter.1 at osu.edu<mailto:Reutter.1 at osu.edu>) and Jan Ciborowski (cibor at uwindsor.ca<mailto:cibor at uwindsor.ca>) by Friday, 29 March so we can arrange for appropriate amounts of food. There will be an informal lunch buffet, coffee, and snacks at the Burlington Meeting. Goal: The goal of the meeting is to help newcomers to the Lake Erie research community learn about research questions, needs, and priorities, funding opportunities, collaborations, the complexity of institutional relationships in the Great Lakes region, and how they can become involved. Please help spread the word. Jeff Reutter, Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab, and Jan Ciborowski, University of Windsor, will be the speakers and make PowerPoint presentations on the 2 April webinar. The webinar will be recorded and available afterward on the Ohio Sea Grant website, www.ohioseagrant.osu.edu<http://www.ohioseagrant.osu.edu> At Burlington, representatives from a number of agencies and organizations will make presentations about their mandate or work (or Jan Ciborowski, University of Windsor, and Chris Marvin, Environment Canada, will be explaining what they do), interests, and ways to join collaborations on Lake Erie projects . We will also describe the role of various formal and informal networks and research/monitoring consortia. Each new investigator is invited to spend a few (5 minutes max) (PowerPoints [up to 3 slides] are OK only at the face-to-face meeting) to tell us a little about themselves and their interests. We also want to compile appropriate contact information for new investigators so we can add them to appropriate announcement lists to receive information on meetings and collaborative opportunities. Finally, we want to be able to accommodate everyone wishing to participate, but from past experience (we last did this in 2011) we expect it to be a relatively small group that will allow us to be casual and open to a wide variety of input, suggestions, and discussions. Travel information, maps to the meeting site in Burlington, and a detailed agenda will be provided to registrants as soon as they are finalized. We look forward to meeting you on 2 and/or 4 April.
