Ohio DNR Invites Applications for Coastal Engineer

 

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Office of Coastal Management
is seeking a Coastal Engineer to join its Coastal Engineering team.  The
Office of Coastal Management, located on Sandusky Bay in Sandusky, Ohio,
is responsible for administration of the Ohio Coastal Management Program
and has jurisdiction along Ohio's 312 miles of Lake Erie shoreline and
within portions of its watershed.  Our mission is to achieve a balance
between use and preservation of Lake Erie's coastal resources, in
collaboration with our partners, by effectively administering the Ohio
Coastal Management Program.

                                                              

The successful candidate will review applications and provide technical
assistance related to Lake Erie Coastal Erosion Area Permits, Shore
Structure Permits, and Submerged Lands Authorizations, as well as assist
property owners, local communities, consultants, and other agencies on
issues including erosion control, coastal processes, and dredging. The
candidate will also assist with the development of the Lake Erie Shore
Erosion Management Plan and the Ohio Coastal Design Manual. 

 

The minimum qualifications include a valid certificate as an
engineer-in-training issued by the Ohio Board of Registration for
Professional Engineers & Surveyors or equivalent from another state; an
engineering degree from a recognized school or college which has
received accreditation by a board for engineering technology, and one
year engineering related experience (advanced degrees in a related field
can be substituted for some experience).
