When I did a site search for "alligator" in Google (search string alligator site: http://www.great-lakes.net/lists/p2tech/), I retrieved P2Tech posts containing "alligator" (a discussion I must have missed :-)). When I searched "alligator" from the search box on the P2Tech archive page, I got no hits. As a test, I searched P2 from the P2Tech archive page and retrieved results, so there is an index. I just don't think the search engine is very robust. So if you want to search the whole archive and actually get results, I suggest using Google and adding site: http://www.great-lakes.net/lists/p2tech/ to the end of your search string. That doesn't address the problem of posts that aren't there at all, but should get you results from what is there. Hope this helps.
