Right of way clearing w/o herbicides: use rent-a-goats. No joke.

Beloved and proven (if seemingly quirky) approach here in the Pacific NW, for Seattle City Light power utility and many others.

Goat-renting farmer or the utility can set up temporary fencing to keep the goats in place.

Just for fun: click on profile #80 at this site from a NW-based insurance company. http://werealotlikeyou.com/

Subject: [p2tech] Sustainable Rights of Way Mgmt Resources needed

Hi All,

We have a situation on Cape Cod where the utility company wants to clear the land under its power lines with herbicides.

I am looking for examples of sustainable land management practices for rights of ways that is also cost effective. Any cost/benefit reports would be very useful in our arguments.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sincerely,

Eileen Gunn
