Debby, One technique that has been utilized here in Ohio for the cleaning of tire molds utilizes carbon dioxide pellet blasting as a replacement for solvent use. The pellet blasting does not damage the surface of the molds and has been adapted for more delicate substrates such as circuit boards etc. http://www.cleanblasting.com/ice/industrial-cleaning-videos.htm http://www.cleanblasting.com/ice/oil-gas-photos.htm Ron Smith Ohio EPA, Office of Compliance Assistance & Pollution Prevention 614-644-2813 614-644-2807 fax ron.smith at epa.state.oh.us http://www.epa.state.oh.us/ocapp/ocapp.html "We exist temporarily by what we take, we exist forever by what we give." -Will Rogers, Jr. >>> "Valin, Debby" <Debby.Valin at dep.state.fl.us> 10/6/2009 4:25 PM >>> Hi, all- We are looking for a perchloroethylene alternative for cleaning large stainless steel coils or bellows used in oil drilling. This company currently soaks the coils in perc-filled 55-gallon drums. Problems may exist with other cleaners altering the surface of the coils. I am not sure whether this is just an aesthetics issue or actually impedes the function or durability of the coils. Any help here? Janine and Mr. Jones – please correct any misinformation and supplement any missing details. Thanks, all.
