Covering 1,068 square miles, Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron is recorded as the largest freshwater island in the world. Part of the Canadian province of Ontario, Manitoulin is located in the northern half of Lake Huron. It separates Georgian Bay and the lower portion of the lake.
