Study: Asian carp unlikely to stow away in barges The Associated Press (2/28) Asian carp are unlikely to reach the Great Lakes by stowing away on commercial vessels in Chicago-area rivers and canals, the U.S. Coast Guard said Thursday. Lakeshore gets shuttle funding South Bend Tribune (2/20) The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is set to receive $193,400 from the Federal Transit Administration for a shuttle service to connect visitors traveling by commuter rail to the park along Lake Michigan's southern shore. Michigan City, New Buffalo wrestle with low Lake Michigan water level The Northwest Indiana Times (2/19) The low water levels are evident at the public boat launch in New Buffalo, Mich. Officials in Indiana and Michigan are considering whether dredging projects are needed where boats may have difficulty getting into and out of Lake Michigan.
